The requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, provide a regime with the aim of ensuring the safety of pressure systems.
The aim of the PSSR is to prevent serious injury from the hazard of stored energy as a result of the failure of a pressure system or one of its component parts.
We currently deliver a full programme of 12 yearly major inspections on all applicable pressure vessels on the NTS (this is also applicable to IDNs on the gas distribution network).
We conduct a full site survey of all assets requiring the inspections under the Regulations.
A programme is developed and agreed with the relevant areas to establish site conditions, access requirements, current asset condition all previous inspection reports are looked at upfront.
We are in constant communication with the PSSR external competent body.
Onsite survey inspections are carried out: we geographically plan to the work to ensure efficiency and effective movement of the inspections team.
We have recently improved the process to ensure that a high percentage of defects are rectified on-site to reduce remobilisation and revisitation costs.
A full inspection is carried out of the asset (this inspection criteria varies depending on the asset) and ultimately assures the business that the asset is safe and compliant for full operational use for the next 12 years.
